Respectful Relationships

At Nullawarre & District Primary School, we are committed to helping every student develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to build positive relationships and contribute to a safe, inclusive school community.

All students participate in a dedicated 50-minute Respectful Relationships lesson each week, taught by our Specialist Wellbeing Teacher. Lessons follow the Victorian Respectful Relationships curriculum, ensuring students receive consistent, age-appropriate learning from Foundation to Year 6.

Through engaging activities, discussions and collaborative learning, students develop important social and emotional skills, including:

  • Recognising and managing emotions
  • Building resilience and confidence
  • Developing empathy and respect for others
  • Creating and maintaining positive relationships
  • Communicating effectively
  • Solving problems and resolving conflict respectfully
  • Understanding personal strengths and celebrating diversity

Respectful Relationships is embedded within our whole-school approach to wellbeing and complements our School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework and school values. By explicitly teaching these skills, we support students to become kind, respectful and responsible members of our school and the wider community.

Our goal is to provide every child with the tools they need to build healthy relationships, make positive choices and thrive both at school and beyond.
