150 Years of NDPS
For more than 150 years, Nullawarre & District Primary School has been at the heart of our community.
Since opening its doors on 26 November 1875, our school has been a place where children learn, friendships are formed and generations of families have created lasting memories. What began as a small one-room school with just 17 students has grown into a school that continues to educate and inspire the children of our rural community.
Our story is closely woven into the story of Nullawarre itself. As pioneering families cleared the land, established farms and built the thriving dairy district we know today, the school became a place where their children gathered to learn. Many of the family names that appeared on the very first class rolls are still part of our school community generations later – a wonderful reminder of the deep roots our school has in the district.
Over the years, the school has been much more than a classroom. It has been a meeting place, a celebration space, a sporting hub and a cornerstone of community life. School concerts, picnics, working bees, sporting events and special celebrations have brought people together for generations, creating memories that have been passed from parents to children and grandparents to grandchildren.
Like our community, the school has continued to grow and adapt. New buildings have replaced old ones, learning has evolved and each generation has embraced new opportunities while staying true to the values that have always defined Nullawarre – community, resilience, kindness and a genuine commitment to helping every child succeed.
In 2025, we proudly celebrated 150 years of education with a special community celebration, welcoming current and former students, staff, families and friends back through our gates. It was a wonderful opportunity to share stories, reconnect with old friends, reflect on our rich history and celebrate the many people who have helped shape our school over the past century and a half.
Today, Nullawarre & District Primary School continues to honour its proud history while looking confidently to the future. We are incredibly proud to be part of a small farming community where relationships matter, traditions are valued, and every child is known, supported and encouraged to achieve their very best.
Our history reminds us that while our classrooms and playgrounds may have changed over the years, the heart of our school has always remained the same – a place where children belong, families connect, and our community comes together.
