Principal’s Message
Welcome to the Nullawarre & District Primary School website! I hope you enjoy exploring our site and learning more about what makes our school such a special place.
As Acting Principal, I am committed to fostering a school community that values high expectations, strong relationships, and a shared commitment to excellence. At NDPS, we believe that every child should be challenged, supported, and encouraged to pursue their passions and reach their full potential.
We pride ourselves on creating a learning environment where all children flourish—where they develop critical thinking skills, resilience, and a love of learning. Our collaborative teaching and learning approach ensure that staff work closely together to provide engaging, evidence-based instruction tailored to the needs of every student. The high standards we set for ourselves, and our students are reflected in the outstanding progress and achievements we see across all year levels.
Our educational philosophy is centred on laying the “Foundations for Success” and making a “Positive Difference” in the lives of our students. This means:
- Recognising and nurturing the individual talents of each child.
- Creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive school culture where all students feel valued.
- Encouraging student voice and leadership to empower students as active participants in their education.
- Upholding our school values of respect, responsibility, and curiosity and personal excellence in all aspects of school life.
We are proud of the close connection we share with our on-site kindergarten, ensuring a seamless transition for our youngest learners. Our Buddy System supports new students, fostering friendships and a strong sense of belonging from day one. The School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework, which underpins our approach to student wellbeing and behaviour management, ensuring that all students are supported to develop positive relationships, self-confidence, and respect for others.
At NDPS, we are dedicated to providing a rich, engaging curriculum that challenges and excites our students. Our whole-school approach to Literacy and Numeracy ensures that learning is structured, evidence-based, and tailored to individual needs. Our curriculum map is aligned with the Victorian Curriculum 2.0, ensuring consistency across all classrooms and year levels. We use comprehensive assessment tools, including Sounds Write Diagnostics, DIBELS, and IXL pre- and post-tests, to identify student learning gaps and provide targeted interventions, including structured tutoring groups in 2025.
Our student leadership program provides opportunities for senior students to take on authentic leadership roles, contributing meaningfully to school life and developing valuable skills in communication, teamwork, and responsibility. We value student voice, ensuring that students actively contribute to decisions about their learning, school culture, and initiatives.
We are proud of our strong partnerships with families and the wider community. We believe that education is most successful when parents and caregivers are actively involved in their child’s learning journey. Through regular communication, community events, and opportunities for parental engagement, we strive to create a supportive, inclusive school environment where everyone feels welcome.
At Nullawarre & District Primary School, we are passionate about developing well-rounded, confident, and capable learners who are prepared for the future. I look forward to working closely with our students, staff, and families to ensure every child experiences success, growth, and joy in their learning.
